This trip was taken between May 22, 2014 to June 10, 2014.

Today we sleep in a little bit and then head out on the T-Bana back to the Island of Djurgaden to visit the Nordiska Museet, the Museum of Cultural History. This building built in 1907 houses about 1.5 million objects of Swedish Trends and Traditions. Walking around the 4 stories of the museum you see home interiors, jewelry, table settings, textiles, dolls, toys, textiles, folk art and many other items. We take the elevator to the top floor and investigate each floor on the way down. What an interesting way to spend the morning and early afternoon. Boy the Stockholm Card has been great, every site we visited during the stay was free along with all our transportation.

When we were finished we decided we loved and had not seen enough of Gamla Stan, so back on the T-Bana to go have lunch and walk around to investigate more of the interesting alleys and streets of the Old Town. We find a nice café and have lunch, still hungry we find an Ice Cream shop and have desert. Alright we are full and ready to walk around. We find some interesting places off the main tourist paths but after a few hours we decide we need to go back to our room and get ready for the train ride to Oslo, Norway in the morning.

Getting up early the next morning we head to the Main Train Station on the T-Bana and walk the long Shopping Mall corridor from the T-Bana to the train platform. We board the train and settle in for the 6-hour train ride to Oslo enjoying the scenery along the way.

After arriving in Oslo we decide to take our first taxi ride to our next apartment. With Jodi’s medical bags and our carry-on luggage it is getting hard to manage on public transit so I insist on taxis to and from our city-to-city transfers from now on. Jodi sees that carrying my backpack and camera bag and pulling 2 rolling carry on bags (one with Jodi’s clothes and a smaller one with her medicine and medical equipment) while Jodi takes care of her oxygen concentrator is taking its toll on me, she finally agrees and we have a comfortable ride to our room in Oslo enjoying the street sights.

We get into the room near Schous Plass, unpack and take a walk around our neighborhood to see what is there. We discover the T-Bane (trolley) stop, restaurants, cafes and stores we might use in our stay here. We grab some groceries for breakfast and we return to our room to get settled in and ready for our next busy day in Oslo. Again we have the Oslo Pass that will cover our transportation and sites during our stay. This one was available online and was mailed to our house. All city cards are available at Tourist Information stops around town if needed.
