Well, we have our luggage picked up from our villa by the Disney staff to be delivered to our new resort at 8:30, another free perk for staying on property. So off we head for our final day at the Magic Kingdom Park.
Our transportation drops us off at the park right at the 9:00 AM opening and we head to our favorite first ride of the day Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for our last ride through the desert southwest and the haunted mine.
As it is again in the low 40’s, walk past Splash Mountain and head to where DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES at the Pirates of the Caribbean. This ride opened in 1973 and is based on the original Disneyland attraction. We always enjoy the cool dark ride as the Pirates pillage a Caribbean village.
Inspired by a scene we saw in the PhilharMagic show we ride Aladdin’s Magic Carpet’s, a Dumbo style ride for kids of all ages. During the summer watch out for the spitting camels.
Next it is time for The Country Bear Jamboree, this animatronic stage show features bears as the main characters. A rollicking country music Ho-Down it is a foot stomping good time. The full time guests to the show consists of a bull moose named Melvin; Max a whitetaile buck and Buff an American Bison, these wall mounted heads are a very funny part of the show and have seen every showing.
Back again for our last Fast Pass on the 7-Dwarf’s Mine Train. The theming surrounding the attraction is meant to remind you of the Alps in Europe with the waterfalls, forests and landscaping while also letting us not forget this is about the 7 Dwarfs with a mine entrance and the evil queens vultures overhead watching the riders wiz past.
It was now time for our lunch reservation at the Plaza Restaurant on the end of Main Street. This quaint soda shop style eatery is a delightful escape. We decided to both have burgers but Jodi got the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger while I wanted to try something a little different and got the Beef Brisket Onion Burger. The beef Brisket Burger was a combination of hamburger patty with sliced beef brisket on top, a real mouth and gut stretcher that was very good and very filling. We share a chocolate shake for dessert.
After a relaxing lunch we need some easy time for our lunches to settle so it was back for some gut busting good times at the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.
After the Laugh Floor we decide to go easy this afternoon and follow up with our Tomorrowland transportation ride on the People Mover and then walk across to the Carrousel of Progress, man I hope they never close these last two attractions. I so miss the Disneyland People mover.
Then we cross the park to be entertained by the 999 ghosts at The Haunted Mansion for our final ride of the day.
We slowly start back to the exit at 3:00 PM and head for our new digs at All-Star Music.
During this stay there has been an abundance of cheer leading teams in the parks all week, here for a competition and it seems they are all staying at the All-Star Resorts. The parks, especially Magic Kingdom have been crowed this first week in February but we now understand why, with the cheer leading competition and the Mardi Gras one week school holiday there are many more park visitors than we are accustomed to this time of year.
We reserved a standard Room and were surprised when we entered our room to see we were upgraded to a Family Suite, thank you Disney. Such a nice room with a living-dining area (that looks like it will sleep 3), a small Kitchen with a sink, refrigerator and microwave, a separate Master Bedroom with a queen size bed and 2 full bathrooms, pretty nice for a family on a budget.
We have our luggage delivered to our room and go to eat a small snack at the Intermission Food Court before exploring the resorts.
We haven’t walked enough today, HA HA, and want to see the resort hotel grounds so it is off to explore 2 of the 3 All-Star Resorts – ours, the All-Star Music, and next door to the All-Star Movies. Very nice basic rooms, nice pools, and great theming but man have we gotten spoiled at the deluxe resorts with our time-share villa.
So after walking 6.85 miles today we are now back in the room to rest for the final park day of our vacation tomorrow at EPCOT.
